This week is a color challenge, and it is a beautiful combo!

Here is what I came up with using some of my favorite goodies:

Stamps: Timeless Textures, Delicate Details
Paper: Soft Sky, Very Vanilla, Sweet Sugarplum
Ink: Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Sky
Accessories: Cups & Kettle Framelits, Fancy Frost Sequins, Clear Wink of Stella

I kept this pretty simple. I took a scrap of thin paper to use as a mask, masking the upper portion of the card, then stamping Timeless Textures in the open area in Sweet Sugarplum, then used a sponge to add more ink and smooth out the lines. I stamped the stain rings after.

Reversing the mask to cover the table, stamped the steam and splatter in Soft Sky.

Cut out the small tea cup, and again masking to stamp the lace along the top of the cup. I masked a thin strip along the top and bottom and sponged Sweet Sugarplum ink.

Cut out the heart steam shape in Sweet Sugarplum, added clear wink of stella.

Added a few sequins for a little extra bling.

Love the simple look. Thanks for looking today!Amy Downinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05251654894058308384noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4203808842689500294.post-77524244771731157082016-12-10T15:19:00.003-08:002016-12-10T15:19:48.445-08:00Fab Friday 102 - Red Emerald Crumb Cake Christmas SpiritTime for another Fab Friday challenge blog post, using these fabulous colors!
Stamps: Delicate Details, Star of Light, Totally Trees
Ink: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Emerald Envy
Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Real Red, Red Foil Paper
Accessories: Emerald Envy Baker's Twine, Rose Garden Thinlits, Starlight Thinlits, Fancy Frost Sequins, Gold Wink of Stella

Stamped the lace background using Crumb Cake and the largest lace stamp in the new SAB 2017 stamp set, Delicate Details.

Trees stamped using Real Red and Emerald Envy, plus Crumb Cake for the Star. I used Gold Wink of Stella to color the detailed star outline and snow images to stamp the gold onto the tree and star image. Cut out with scissors.

The star comes from the Starlight Thinlits with Red Foil paper.

The sentiment is from the Star of Light stamp set. The die to cut it out is from Rose Garden dies, then I adhered a layer of red behind it and cut around it for an extra layer of color.
I kept it simple and bright. Not much explanation needed. Thanks for visiting!Amy Downinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05251654894058308384noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4203808842689500294.post-45089498413603939562016-10-06T22:11:00.000-07:002016-10-06T22:46:30.357-07:00Stamp and Paper Storage with Clear Poly Envelopes and Clear Pantry BinsI thought I would put together a post of what my current stamp storage looks like!

The last month or so I was inspired to convert my stamp storage into something even more compact. I was inspired by Lydia Fiedler, she amazes me all the time! Of course my blog posts are not amazing like hers, but you will get the idea!

So, I currently have an Ikea wardrobe I built special just for stamping storage years ago. I continue to love it, and it serves it's purpose beautifully!

The wardrobe has 4 wire basket drawers, 3 of which are for stamp storage, the other is filled with adhesives, embossing powders, and other goodies.

Here is a view of my "Desk" which is actually my dining room table. But small apartment, you do what you can. I have my main Ikea wardrobe but I have continued to add pieces to my collection.

A current side view of my Ikea wardrobe, my punch storage. My punch collection took a major hit this year, so I actually have very few punches to store. You can see I made a little punch guide too, so that I can easily access names of punches. This comes in handy when I am trying to post pictures and need to know names. Also, the boxes and stuff on top of the wardrobe have since been cleared away.

Current die and block storage. Don't mind the messy desk. I was given these fridge bins from a friend. They are perfect for my desk storage! I have dies and embossing folders labeled and alphabetized. The die storage cards are the magnet cards from Stamp N Storage. I prefer the 6 x 7 size. You can see I also throw my stamp foam pads in here, my MISTI's are stored in another drawer, so this is an easy spot to place the foam pads when I don't need them in the MISTI. All my blocks fit nicely in their container along with my stamp cleaning mist and Novus plastic cleaner, which is used for cleaning my blocks and MISTI.

Storage drawers I have added to the table on a needed basis. The smaller one holds my ATG, Big Shot items, and my MISTI tools. The larger one holds my catalogs, pens and highlighers, sticker labels for pricing my cards, punch boards, markers (which are in DVD cases) and the bottom largest drawer is my Washi Tape storage.

See? I have an addiction to Washi Tape. I got these bamboo silverware trays from Target!

I have recently purchased and mounted a few more of these Bygel bars and baskets for addtional storage, which is where I keep my ribbon and twine collection. Unfortunately Ikea has now discontinued the Bygel series. Hopefully there is something similar out there now. These baskets and bars have been so incredibly helpful and adapted many times by me.

The Drawers on the floor next to the Wardrobe hold various other items, mostly stamping related. The drawers on top store all the retired In Color families, waiting for times I need them or for the next color renovation. My Score Tool sits on top for easy scoring.

The inside of my wardrobe! I designed this special just for my stamping supplies. It goes deep behind so there is more behind what is seen up front. Ink pad and refill storage on top. The next shelf down is virtually ALL envelopes. I have a lot of them. It's inevitable. I have various things posted on the door. I have magnet board I made, I will often write up sheets with DSP and Washi Tape colors listed. My stamp cleaner recipe is posted here, plus I also type up lists of my owned stamps organized by theme, so that I can glance at the list if I need, for instance, a Sympathy stamp.

This picture shows the crazy amount of cardstock I have. My standing cardstock holders hold a minimal amount of cardstock and my DSP for easy access. The remaning cardstock gets stored behind as you see here. Grid paper is there as well as my stampin' store containers.

Here is the top drawer of my Wardrobe. It's also the most messy looking. It's not actually. It contains a lot of adhesive and various other things, sponges, Wink of Stella, embossing powders. These are drawer organizers placed inside that have everything sorted, also from Ikea.

Here is what my stamp storage looked liked before I changed my system. I was in the process of converting it so it looks a little different. 2 1/2 full drawers of stamps. The Orange binder on the bottom was my Paper Pumpkin stamp storage.
An example of how the envelopes looked after conversion. I took the DVD inserts out, cutting off the spine, to fit perfectly in these 5 x 7 envelopes. I converted both cling rubber sets and the photopolymer.
This picture shows that for the rubber stamps, if I still had the template base that the stamps came in originally (like a puzzle, keeps them together easier), I cut them down slightly to fit better in these envelopes without squishing the stamps too much. I bought a decent pack of quality acetate sheets, which I cut down to 5 x 7 (or smaller for some sets), and adhered the cling template to acetate to make the stamps stay together, plus the stiffer envelopes makes storage a little tidier I have noticed. You can see the shiny backing on the back of this stamp set, which is the acetate sheet.
Here is a current pic of how I have my drawers now organized. This is the first stamp drawer, these two bins contain all my current Stampin' Up ! sets. There is room on the side for one more bin if I need one. I can fit between 35 and 50 stamp sets in each bin (thats basically an entire drawer of my previous system fit into just one of the bins.)

Second stamp drawer, this contains all my retired SU! sets in the one bin. The other bin holds my non-SU! stamps (the white sheets. I labeled each pocket since I don't have the nice SU! case labels). The orange pockets are Paper Pumpkin stamp sets! You can see I have also stored some empty DVD boxes in these drawers. They are useful for storing materials for classes and projects. I will be keeping all the boxes for when sets retire, so I can sell with the DVD cases.

Last week I decided not only did I want to store my stamps in these envelopes, but also I wanted to convert my bottom drawer to store DSP stacks, scraps of DSP, and take all my SU! color scraps and sort them individually. I purchased 7 x 7 Poly bags through a wholesale company (so I had to buy a lot of them). They are the perfect size for the 6 x 6 stacks. Plus I bought the larger sized bins like what i have for my stamps.

This picture shows that I have an individual pocket for each of the 50 Stampin' Up! colors. I cut a 7 x 7 piece to put in each envelopes. This helps keep each pocket standing up nicely, and makes it easy to see each color when going through the bin.

I also sorted all my glimmer paper out by color. Both my cardstock scraps and glimmer paper scraps were put together, glimmer all mixes together, and cardstock by color family. This makes it even more accessible!

I also have a select amount of envelopes I put together to hold various scraps of DSP. Here you see my black and white selection. I find that I hoard my DSP, and when a set retired, I would pull out the full sheets and store separately, and then either give away the scraps or they would get shoved far away. This way I can keep my favorite pieces easily accessible!

It's been a couple months. I was in need of a challenge to get me stamping today, so I followed to my friend Mindy's Fab Friday challenge blog, here is this week's challenge: Fab Friday 96
Here is the challenge, a rich color set!

First, I found a recent fabulous card by Michelle Zindorf which I used as a starting reference for my sunset card. I did not have her tutorial for it so I used the image to create my own attempt! I will try to give an explanation here:

-Use a scratch piece of paper to mask the center, using the brayer start by layering the So Saffron ink. Then I applied Peekabook peach keeping a center area mostly still only in So Saffron ink. This will be your sun reflection area. Covering even less area, once again brayer in from the sides, using Watermelon Wonder ink.

-Reverse the edge of your scratch paper covering the sky area. Apply with the brayer Watermelon Wonder ink only along the horizon edge of the water line.

-Reverse the scratch paper once again to cover the water.

-Create a circle mask for your Sun, first sponging inside the cut out shape like a stencil for the sun. Use the cut out shape to mask the sun as you brayer your sky.

-Once again, use the brayer to ink the sky, keeping a pale edge along the horizon. Layer Peekaboo peach and Watermelon Wonder a little further up. I wanted my sky to look a bit darker than the water.

-Using Black ink I stamped the Banana Leaves and Philodendron Leaves. I used my MISTI to re-ink the stamp multiple times to get enough coverage of the black ink. I used a sponge to sponge around the base and around the leaves a bit.

-Stamped the drinks separately, cut out by hand. TIP: I used the fine-tip glue pen to add a bit of glossy texture to the drink glasses. Since this is a masculine card I wanted minimal bling.

-Used Basic Black Scraps of cardstock for the table and table leg. The drinks are glued flat to appear sitting on top of the table.

-The "Happy" die cut cut in Peekaboo Peach, the Birthday To You stamped in Watermelon Wonder.

Layered with Basic Black and Peekaboo Peach for the card base. The card measures 5.5 x 8.5 in.

I think there was some sort of indentation on the cardstock when creating my sun. Its like a little sunspot. It gives the card character.

I am truly happy with this card, thanks for taking the time to visit my blog!Amy Downinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05251654894058308384noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4203808842689500294.post-5294751849267139642016-06-06T15:09:00.001-07:002016-06-06T15:09:11.182-07:00Here for You Floral BoutiqueA card for a terminally ill friend, using items from my first order in the new catalog!
Isn't this paper gorgeous? And since I found out my friend was sick, I have been wanting to make her a card using this set. I wanted to color this Marlin image. And Swirly Scribbles dies are perfect once again. Great for ocean style cards!
Accessories: Swirly Scribbles Thinlits dies, Metallics Sequins, Aquapainter

Stamped the marlin onto Shimmer White cardstock using Basic Gray ink. I used mainly markers, drawing directly overtop stamp lines to get the shading. I used the aquapainter to go overtop the lines, blending some of the colors. Pacific Point is the lighter blue shading, I used Night of Navy along the darker areas. So Saffron is the yellowish strip down the center, and I used smoky slate ink with the aquabrush to add just a bit of shading along the underside. I cut the fish out by hand, then used a Pool Party marker around the white edges of the fish. This way you have a little more paper to work with when cutting out, and you can match the cardbase color so as to diminish the cut out line visibility.

Just a couple cut out scribbles for the water lines adhered to the cardbase, stamping the sentiment between them. Adhered the marlin, as well as some clear sequins for bubbles!Amy Downinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05251654894058308384noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4203808842689500294.post-48020093675270661362016-05-25T00:02:00.001-07:002016-05-25T00:02:10.849-07:00Sitting Here with No WordsMy dear friend lost her best friend...her beloved kitty. This card is for her. I even colored the cat to match her "Mau-Mau". I decided it was time for another couch made with the Decorative Label punch. By far my most used and versatile punch!

Ink: Basic Black, Peekaboo Peach, Tip Top Taupe, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Decorative Label Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder, Raven Black Lace Trim, Glue Dots, Dimensionals.

I first stamped all three pillows and the cat in black ink. Using markers I colored in the images. A little time consuming especially for the rectangular and square pillows.

I used pictures of my friend's cat to color this sweet cat to look similar. The new Peekaboo peach is a surprisingly good match for a calico coloring. What I didn't include in the "ingredients" is that I cut out a teeny tiny circle of blushing bride paper (1/16" circle punch) to adhere on the nose, then had to use a black marker to draw around the nose shape. Her cat had an adorably pink nose, I had to make it so. Fussy cut around all the small stamped images.

The couch is made pretty easily using pieces punched with the Decorative Label punch. A partial piece longways for the back of the couch (which is mostly hidden), a rectangular piece with the decorative label punched into it for the base and feet, and a small corner of the label punched for each arm. A strip of black for the couch cushion. Then it looked a little clunky so I used a Basic Black marker to color trim and edging. Glued the pillows along the back of the couch, used dimensionals to adhere the cat to the front of the couch.

Stamped the sentiment which was perfect in my opinion, cutting again with decorative label. Tied the black raven lace trim underneath the stamped sentiment, adhered the label behind the couch.

Once it was glued the other side of my card was empty so I made a lamp using the 1" circle punch, trimmed with the black lace.

Adhered the embossed background and the floor, then the couch resting on it.

I hope the card is something that makes her smile and makes her think of her dear one who crossed the rainbow bridge today. HUGS.Amy Downinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05251654894058308384noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4203808842689500294.post-22079965287990141462016-05-21T23:55:00.002-07:002016-05-21T23:55:55.752-07:00Flirty Flamingo Swirly ParadisePlaying with more new goodies! Paper: Cucumber Crush, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Soft Sky
Accessories: Post-It Notes, Dimensionals, Brayer, Sponges, Blender Pens

Started with a 1/4 sheet of whisper white, trimmed down to 4 x 5 1/4. Stamped the swing image in Basic Black. I used blender pens to color in the image with ink, markers to highlight some of the darker areas and small lines.

Using a large post it note, I stamped the swing image and hand cut it out and used as a mask for doing the background. Masking the swing image, I then used another post it note to mask along the base to stamp the hardwood floor in Soft Suede. Keeping the masks in place, used a sponge to sponge in Soft Suede all along the stamped floor area, swirling the sponge to coat evenly.

Reversed the floor mask to cover up the hardwood floor, making sure to keep the swing mask in place, used a sponge and sponged Crushed Cucumber above the floor to make grass. Once you remove the mask for the swing and floor, use markers and blender pens to add color behind the slats in the swing and any open white areas missed because of the mask. It helps blend the edges too!

Using a brayer, add Soft Sky ink along the remaining top of the card. I used a sponge to blend the remaining edges near the grass.

Using Sheltering Tree stamped leafy branches along the top of the card above the swing ropes, using Cucumber Crush. I added some Flirty Flamingo flowers. I decided it needed a branch or a panel to hang the swing on so I added a Hardwood stamped strip of Soft Suede. Stamped some Crushed Curry Flowers along the grass top too.

Stamped the bird, cat, flower pot, and pillow, and used markers to color the images. On the pillow and cat I used a touch of a Versamark marker around the edges after to give it a bit more 3D dimension. Cut them out by hand and adhered with dimensionals. For the flower pot, since it was difficult to cut out, I used Cucumber Crush to fill in between the flowers to make it look more realistic.

Stamped the banner strip in Dapper Denim onto Soft Sky, adhered with dimensionals. Adhered card front to Cucumber Crush.

So much fun, I love how it turned out.

I'm regretting not photographing my progress so I can explain how I made this better, but I will do my best.

Using scratch paper as masking material, I first made the hill, by masking and using a sponge with Crumb Cake Ink. I went back over the hill in Hello Honey for a darker and more sand like coloring.

This was the tricky part. I masked the hill I just created, then made a wave-like shape by tearing more scratch paper. Then using Soft Sky ink and a sponge, I placed the mask where I wanted it then using a sponge gently sponged around the edge, creating a wave outline. I move the wave scratch paper several times and repeated the step. Then remove the mask, and use Soft Sky ink to blend the lines a bit, keeping some of the white for the foam look of the waves splashing.

Using a straight edge scratch paper, masked the sky and created an ocean horizon line using Lost Lagoon ink. I didn't fill the space between the ocean and wave edges completely because again you want to have the illusion of waves.

Sponged Lost Lagoon ink gently along the inside of the waves for some added color and foamy appeance.

I did end up losing too much of the white space on the waves, so I used a white chalk marker to add the white definition again which helps the color to stand out!

Using a circle punch, I punched a circle out of another piece of scratch paper, then masked area in the sky and sponged a sun in Hello Honey ink. Removed the mask, then took the sponge with ink and streaked out some sun rays out from the circle.

Stamped the lighthouse in Crumb Cake, cutting out by hand and adhering on the hill with dimensionals.

Stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon Ink.

Added the Crumb Cake ribbon for a little added something.
It has a lot of time involved thanks to the puzzle pieces of these floral dies. SO pretty though. I hope she loves it!
Stamps: Rose Wonder, Timeless Textures
Paper: Whisper White Thick CS, Whisper White CS, Pear Pizzazz CS, Old Olive CS, Cherry Cobbler CS, Rose Red CS, Perfect Plum CS, Elegant Eggplant CS, Crushed Curry CS
Ink: Tip Top Taupe
Accessories: Rose Garden Thinlits, Pearls, Clear Wink of Stella, Sahara Sand Lace Trim

The edges of the card background are stamped with multiple images from the Timeless Textures set. They make a gorgeous vintage look!

When cutting the flowers out, I separated each image into containers, the pieces that fill in the outlines. Adhered the outline images, and carefully finding and fitting the appropriate pieces in the various colors.

Adhered some pearls, as well as cutting out the frames for the sentiment. Added wink of stella to the blossoms and leaves. The top had an open area, so I added the lace trim.

The size is a half sheet of cardstock, 5.5 x 8.5Amy Downinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05251654894058308384noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4203808842689500294.post-86715123282455431102016-04-30T18:01:00.002-07:002016-04-30T18:01:55.914-07:00Black and White Birthday CelebrationCreated this fast and easy card today for a class project. The original version of this card was very different! I had to keep remaking it, pulling off the focal pieces and adding something new. Third time is the charm I guess! The background swirled lines were causing the problem as it made everything so busy! Finally got it to look great!
The swirled lines were stamped using the MISTI and then colored in with a marker. Rhienstones added to centers.
Rose was stamped onto Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow Cardstock with black ink, cut out and adhered together, then adhered to card with dimensionals. Added a few rhinestones.
This card is for a co-worker who is retiring 10 days from now!

Stamps: Wild About Flowers, Lovely As a Tree, In The Meadow
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke, Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon, Smoky Slate, Markers: Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, White Chalk
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Brushed Silver, Cajun Craze
Accessories: 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Brayer, Sponges, Markers

I started with a 1/2 sheet of cardstock, trimming 1/4" off the sides to layer on the card base.

I tore a piece of scratch paper (thinner is better) and used it as a mask to brayer the green hills, using Wild Wasabi ink. After moving the scratch paper and brayering a few times to create a set of hills, I brayered Pear Pizzazz underneath the Wild Wasabi areas.

I used the reverse edge of the torn scratch paper (the torn off piece) to mask the top hills, and stamped the evergreen tree from Lovely as a Tree in Always Artichoke...but only the top portion, hence needing the mask. Using a sponge with Always Artichoke, start adding the color all along each section of the hills. Don't worry about masking so much. I tapped but also smudged the ink with the sponge, to blend the colors a bit more.

Using markers in a couple areas of the hills, I randomly sprinkled various colored dots as distant flowers. Stamped the grass image from In The Meadow in Pear Pizzazz and Wild Wasabi along the bottom green along the first hills.

Brayered the Sky in Soft Sky, using the reverse mask to cover the green hills. Stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon.

For the Golf Club, I used retired Brushed Silver cardstock, cutting a 1 3/4" circle, then trimming the edges for the flat sides of the golf club head. It needed a little something, so using a Smoky Slate Marker I drew the lines, and used a sponge with Smoky Slate to add a bit of shading.

The golf ball, punch a white 1 3/8" Circle. I use the end of my Stampin' Pierce tool (it has a rounded small tip), and with the circle on a foam pad, dipped the end of the piercing tool in Smoky Slate, pushing into the ball in lines. It started to get out of alignment so I just did my best. Turned out pretty good, looking a bit grunge. Shaded with a sponge and a bit of Smoky Slate.

The golf tee is Cajun Craze, I merely cut the piece by hand.

Thanks for looking! I hope the directions made a little bit of sense!
I wanted to participate in some challenges on Splitcoast Stampers today. I have not done any of the Fan Club challenges in a very long time, so I thought I would give it a go today! I managed to combine 4 different challenges!

Stamps: Made With Love
Ink: Early Espresso, Tip Top Taupe, Melon Mambo
Paper: Tip Top Taupe, Melon Mambo Core'dinations, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Accessories: Star Confetti Punch, Heart Confetti Punch, Large Polkadot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Silver Cord, Blender Pen

Challenges are as follows:

1. Central Theme: Spring. In this case I used something that springs/hops...this adorable bunny!

2. More is More: Create a simple card, then step it up for another card.

3. Sketch Challenge using this layout.

4. Word Play: Use elements with the letters of the word "TIME". T= Tip Top Taupe color, I=Impressions (as in Textured Impressions Embossing Folders), M=Melon Mambo Color, E=Early Espresso Color.

The bunnies are colored with ink and blender pens. I used the Core'dinations Melon Mambo Cardstock to bring out the hearts a bit more. Otherwise both are pretty simple cards! Thanks for a wonderful set of challenges, Fan Club!Amy Downinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05251654894058308384noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4203808842689500294.post-24496158347488573112016-04-16T12:49:00.000-07:002016-04-16T12:49:09.769-07:00Fab Friday 85 - Golden Vanilla RoseHey All! It's time for another Fab Friday post! This week's challenge found here: Fab Friday 85

Here is the sketch:

I had some scraps sitting on my desk from a previous creation, I decided to use them as the basis for my creation! There are no stamps used on this one!

Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Gold Glimmer Paper
Accessories: Deco Labels Framelits, Rose Garden Thinlits, Gold Thread, Star Confetti Punch, Gold Wink of Stella, Hexagon Punch, Dimensionals

I had the golden rose and leaves cut out, which is what I used for the idea of my card. Adhered the rose and stars onto black, then using the Gold Wink of Stella, colored inside the rose! It's absolutely gorgeous in person, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a picture that would quite do it justice! Also hard to get the right colors in the pic.

Made the banner with a 1" strip of cardstock, using the hexagon punch to snip the banner ends.

Looped some gold thread a few times to adhere to the deco label layer.

Over all it's a pretty clean and simple card, with some breathtaking elements! I cannot get enough of gold right now. It seems like I am in the minority, but I find it to be so elegant!
